How to donate to the MadWifi project

We have partnered with Software in the Public Interest (SPI) and with Verein zur Förderung Freier Informationen und Software e.V. (FFIS), non-profit organizations that already support esteemed projects such as Debian and PostgreSQL.

If you donate to these non-profits and earmark your donation to be reserved for us, they will then move your donation to a separate account and keep it there until we request a "disbursement". This approach enables us to receive (in many cases tax-deductible) donations from our users, without the project itself being incorporated as non-profit. It saves us a lot of administrative work and allows us to concentrate on improving our software.

Below we summarize the various options you can choose from for donating to the MadWifi project via SPI and FFIS. Please refer to the donation sections on their websites for all details:

All donations will be acknowledged as detailed in our donation acknowledgement policy.

Donation Receipts, Tax Deductibility

Our partners provide donation receipts on request. Please discuss the tax benefits of donating with your accountant. As a rule of thumb, donations through SPI might be tax deductible in the U.S. and donations to the FFIS might be tax deductible in EU countries.

If you would like acknowledgement of receipt of your donation, please contact for details:

Donate by Credit Card (preferred)

Our partner SPI cooperates with click&pledge for receiving credit card payments. Please click on the image below to start; you will be forwarded to the click&pledge website to finish the transaction.

Donate by American or Canadian Check or Money Order

Write the check (U.S. or Canadian dollars only) to Software in the Public Interest, Inc. Very Important: Put "MadWifi project" in the Memo field rather than making your check payable to the MadWifi project. Then mail your check or money order to:

Donate via PayPal and friends

Neither SPI, nor FFIS, nor the MadWifi project have PayPal accounts and thus at this time do not accept donations through this or similar services. If any account is registered with a payee that claims to be any of the aforementioned organizations, be aware that it is not associated with SPI/FFIS/us and may be fraudulent.

For more information about electronic donations, please contact us at donation@madwifi-project.org.

Donation of Hardware and Services

Do you or your company have any idle machines or spare equipment (hard drives, SCSI controllers, network cards, etc) lying around? Are you a WLAN vendor with Atheros-based products in your portfolio, looking to improve your public profile? Then please consider a hardware donation to the project. These would be particularly useful for realizing our long-standing plans of a "testbed installation" (a.k.a "MadWifi labs") and would greatly enhance your efforts to attract interest from the linux community.

Please feel free to explore and discuss these and any other ideas you may have with us by e-mail: donation@madwifi-project.org.
