newbee need help setting up virtual AP

hi all, i'm kind of new to madwifi and wifi period, sorry!

i built madwifi from source in FC4 and got my d-link DWL-G520 running as a client in 10 mins.

now i'm stuck on setting it up as an access point. i saw the 1 line ap doc on madwifi.org

i can do this ok: [root@wsrl-wifi3 ~]# wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode ap bssid [root@wsrl-wifi3 ~]# iwconfig ath0 essid steve [root@wsrl-wifi3 ~]# iwconfig lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

eth1 no wireless extensions.

wifi0 no wireless extensions.

sit0 no wireless extensions.

ath0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"steve"

but beyond that i'm a bit stuck. what do i do to get the ap up and running? do i need assign it a mac address? do i need to activate it? WHAT DO I DO NOW?

ok, i guess i figured it out.

i needed a ifconfig ath0 10.0.0.1 and ifconfig ath0 up
