System crashed while changing the channel of AP

Hi, We are using atheros card and we made it into Access Point (.11b) mode.I checked the channel of which is it currently operating on using the command iwpriv ath0 channel. Its displayed as current channel is 4(2.44..). Now i trie to change channel by entering the command iwconfig ath0 cahnnel 2.Once i did the system gets hang. Please provide a solution for this issue.
