Madwifi 0.9.4: Enable all 802.11a Frequencies

Description

Hello,

i want to enable all 802.11a-Frequencies. Hereby the frequencies from 5.8GhZ until 6.1 GHz are very interesting for me. Nowadays the madwifi driver only supports the 5.825GHz frequency range.

I have already set the regdomain to 0 and the CountryCode? to 0 but again it shows only values until 5.825GhZ.

As i already know, that the frequencies higher 5.825GhZ are not legal, i want to say that i am doing research regarding DSRC where the Federal Communications Commission has authorized frequencies until 5.9GhZ. I just not want to wait, until IEEE has published the 802.11p protocoll.

Is the madwifi 0.9.4 driver is capable to support these frequencies? .. or shall I use the Ath5K?

Any help would be deeply appreciated! really thank you in advance!..

Kind Regards

I think, this is not possible with madwifi, because the hal binary part of this driver. You can contact atheros to buy a driver(license) with 5.9 Ghz frequency support for the new 802.11p standards. There is another illegal way to do this, you can use ath5k driver, with some engineering skills, using (2312-2732)--(4900-6100) Mhz is possible.

Hello, did you manage to somehow 'hack' the ath5k driver or get a license from atheros to use the driver at higher frequencies? I am starting a project with the same driver and the same objectives as you (802.11p, i need the "extra" frequencies) so if there are any pointers you can give me...)

Thanks a lot!
