Kernel panic on modprobe ath_pci Atheros AR5413 Linux 2.6.28-gentoo

Description (Last modified by mrenzmann)

Greetings!

Please forgive me if I've missed something obvious. But I was looking for some help. I get a kernel panic when I load the ath_pci module. I'm running a mini-pci Atheros AR5413 sold by Engenious.

I've got a fresh gentoo build, installed madwifi 0.9.4. The system is configured to load ath_pci automatically:

prometheus ~ # cat /etc/modprobe.d/ath_pci | grep -v \#

options ath_pci autocreate=monitor ath_debug=0

If all goes well, the actual oops from dmesg will be attacked to this note. I've also provided some details about my system that I think are relevant, but please do let me know if there is other information I can provide.

Gratuitous detail follows. :-)

Cheers! -- Matt

Just an update. I removed all the madwifi modules and re-compiled. I can load the module without kernel panic now.

However, I now get a complete system freeze when I run any attacks at all. System hard locks within 2 minutes of firing up a replay attack.

Is there anything wierd/different about this chip I should know about?
