Scan attempts fail after clean compile and install of the driver

Upon upgrading to kernel image 2.6.24 I removed the old driver that I had been using in favor of the newer 0.9.4. The driver compiled properly and installed without error. However, I now cannot scan for wireless networks at all. I have tried both methods listed in the guide and neither works. Upon using wlanconfig however, I do get the following results.

ioctl[unknown???]: Operation not supported

I have WPA Supplicant installed and up to date. I have no clue what is causing this and need the laptop online ASAP since it is a business machine and requires a wireless connection on the go.
