Description

I've got a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xa3530 Laptop with Gentoo Linux and Atheros AR5418 Wlan Chip. The chip is turned off whenever the notebook starts. In Windows I have to use a shortcut to open a small programm to activate the wlan. In Linux there is nothing to activate it - or i've found nothing to activate. I can configure the card normally with the madwifi (or ath9k) driver, there are no failures, but the card is still not sending / recieving and the WLAN LED of the notebook is still off.

there is nothing to activate the wlan chip.

rfkill=0 is not activating the card!

got the same problem here... was in the madwifi channel in irc, but they seemed not that interested in fixing this problem.... rfkill=0 in modprobe.conf was the only idea they had and this is not working...

Bug reports and enhancement suggestions for ath9k are no longer handled here, but in the kernel bugzilla. Please file a ticket there for the ath9k-part of this ticket.
