Explain ioctl errors via printk

Reported by: mrenzmann Assigned to: mrenzmann
Priority: minor Milestone: version 1.0.0 - first stable release
Component: madwifi: other Version: trunk

Patch is attached: 0 Pending:

Description

ioctl() return values that indicate failures are very generic, often don't tell something about the actual problem and thus confuse the users. It might be a good idea to add a debug switch (which had to be set via 80211debug/athdebug) which enables more specific error messages printed to the system log via printk.

Attached a patch to do some better error printing to the user...

Any suggestions on the ioctl error values to use ?

This way, we avoid more debug stuff (since most users won't turn those on)...
