madwifi-ng-r2756 kernel oops

Reported by: anonymous Assigned to:
Priority: major Milestone:
Component: madwifi: driver Version:
Keywords: Cc:
Patch is attached: 0 Pending:

Using this driver with an Atheros AR5007EG (PCI-ID [168c:001c]), on an Acer Aspire laptop. The sticker on the back of the laptop says Atheros AR5BXB63. It was brought to my attention that the package madwifi-ng-r2756+ar5007.tar.gz could help get this device working. Building the driver produces no errors, but when loading both the ath_hal and ath_pci modules (insmod ath_hal/ath_hal.ko; insmod ath/ath_pci.ko) produces a kernel oops in dmesg, attached.

I'm trying to build this on Fedora 8 kernel, x86_64 install.

well, you probably run into TWO problems with madwifi-ng-r2756+ar5007.tar.gz.

1. it's rather old

2. it only supports x86/i386 and not AMD64/X86_64

but please, stick to the real thread/ticket #1679 in the future.
