Here is the setup ath10 is in 11a mode.

  2. iwconfig ath10 rate 6M (valid rate in 11a)
  3. iwconfig ath10 rate 56M (valid rate in 11a)

In this sequence, the valid rate is not be accepted by iwconfig command.

  1. iwconfig ath10 rate 3M (invalid rate in 11a)
  2. iwconfig ath10 rate 6M (valid rate in 11a)
  3. iwconfig ath10 rate 56M (valid rate in 11a)

same in this case also.

  • description changed.

56M is no valid rate, neither in 11g nor in 11a. It's 54M instead.

In addition, I think that 2M and 3M are valid rates with XR being enabled, but I'm not sure.

Last not least, you should upgrade to the latest stable release (v0.9.3.2), due to known security issues in the version you use.

Would you provide the output of the commands you are running? Use and for block quotes.

Run -

iwconfig ath10 rate 2M

Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20) :
SET failed on device ath10 ; No such device or address.

iwconfig ath10 rate 6M

Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20) :
SET failed on device ath10 ; Invalid argument.

iwconfig ath10 rate 54M

Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20) :
SET failed on device ath10 ; Invalid argument.

In this sequence, the iwconfig command is not accepting the valid rate (6M, 54M) in 11a mode, so there is a problem after set 2M (or 3M) rate in 11a mode.

I had tried with 56M (Invalid rate) also, it also show the same error message.

iwconfig ath10 rate 56M

Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20) :
SET failed on device ath10 ; Invalid argument.

I have seen this bug in madwifi (version 0.9.3.2) as well.

I ported the patch to 0.9.3.2 and is attached.
