The atheros firmware does not "completely" discard packets with version field > 0

Description

I am doing some experimentation with madwifi where I am trying to create my custom packets as opposed to 802.11 packets. I set the version field of these custom packets to 1 so that all 802.11 devices ignore these packets (see 802.11 spec page 50 section 7.1.3.1.1). These custom packets overwrote the duration field to 14950(15ms approx) and the receiving atheros device actually sets the NAV to 15ms though it is not supposed to according to 802.11 spec. I believe this a bug in the atheros firmware and should be rectified.

There is no firmware in Atheros-based WLAN cards, so you are most probably refering to the HAL here.

Please check if the latest HAL (in branch madwifi-hal-0.9.30.13) shows the same behaviour.
